Each year, NYFC touches the lives of close to 1,000 youth in foster care through signature programming including the Back-to-School Package Program, The Futures In Motion: Youth CAN! Program, the Guardian Scholars Program, and the Youth Advisory Board. NYFC also continues to further its mission through organizational capacity building to create more effective systems to better serve youth in foster care.

The following are a few examples of our accomplishments in 2014:

$50,017.20 was distributed to 35 young people by The Charles Evans Emergency Educational Fund to help youth formerly in care who encounter unforeseen financial emergencies.

326 laptops were provided to youth in foster care as part of the 760 Back to School Packages sent in 2014.

75 Back-to-School Packages were sent to youth who have aged out of the foster care system, a new addition to the program.

Over 75 teenagers in foster care volunteered at the 2014 Wrap to Rap program, which provided over 1,000 gifts to children in foster care during the holiday season

The Youth CAN! program doubled in size in 2014, and now has had 30 participants to date. 70% of participants moved into internships thanks to the program.

The 2014 Spirit Award recipient, Jermaine, was provided with a $10,000 scholarship to pursue his educational goals, in addition to the two runners-up, who received scholarships of $2,500 each
