On Wednesday, November 28th, NYFC hosted the 10th Annual Wrap to Rap Presented by Valentino USA. Over 75 teens in foster care joined Valentino USA staff and NYFC Board and Friends at the Ainsworth in Chelsea to wrap 1,000 gifts for younger children in care. The wrapped presents will be distributed by the Administration for Children’s Services to children in foster care throughout New York City.
Special guests included DJ D-Nice, who spun hip hop and holiday classics; Justin Tuck, NYFC’s 2012 Nicholas Scoppetta Child Welfare Honoree and NY Giants Defensive End; and Board and Friends Committee Members Allison Aston, Megan Gray, Eric Brettschneider, Marisa Brown, Susan Burden, Lynne Echenberg, Lise Evans, Ayla Farnos, Susan Gilroy, Zani Gugelmann, Alison Harmelin, Rory Hermelee, Lauran Kenny, Victor Kubicek, Julie Macklowe, Amy McFarland, Elisabeth Noel Jones, Dayssi Olarte de Kanavos, Nicholas Scoppetta, Susan Shin, Lauran Tuck, and Vanessa Weiner von Bismarck.
In addition to providing much needed holiday gifts for children in need, Wrap to Rap also serves as a reminder to teens in foster care of the importance of volunteerism and giving back to their communities. Valentino USA employees chose to give back for the holidays by sponsoring and volunteering at Wrap to Rap instead of having their own holiday party. Additional sponsors include The Ainsworth, Baked by Melissa, Fiji Water and Paige Management.
New Yorkers For Children would like to thank the staff of Valentino USA for celebrating the holidays with New York City’s teens in foster care.
