New Yorkers For Children hosted the Seventh Annual Wrap to Rap, an afternoon of wrapping holiday gifts for children in foster care, on November 17 at Madison Square Garden. Joba Chamberlain of the 2009 World Series Champion New York Yankees served as the host and Delta Air Lines generously sponsored the event. The NYFC Board and Friends Committee joined over 100 teens in foster care to wrap more than 1,500 toys and gifts. DJ D-Nice spun hip-hop and holiday classics and guests enjoyed a special performance from cast members of Broadway’s Rock of Ages. Wrapped gifts were distributed by the Administration for Children’s Services to children in foster care throughout New York City during the holiday season.

Each year, Wrap to Rap provides an opportunity for young people in foster care to spend time with the Board and Friends of NYFC. In addition, the event serves to remind teens of the importance of volunteerism and giving back to their communities. Special thanks to Delta Air Lines and Madison Square Garden for making this event possible and Wal-Mart for donating over 1,000 toys. Additional support was provided by Scotch brand from 3M, Commonwealth Packaging Company, Alternative Apparel, and Crumbs.
